Camping, or not

We set out on a big adventure today. Our first camping trip with Cadence! We were all prepared with a car-camping tent we had won on Ebay. Mom was so excited and pleased with herself for having remembered everything. Well, except for one thing. Turns out, if you want to car camp in Southern CA, you really DO need a reservation. Dad had said "are you SURE you don't need a reservation?" "Nah, I'm sure if we just show up there will be some extra campsites." Well, that didn't go as planned. So we drove up the coast, only to find all campgrounds full. Cadence sat very peacefully in her carseat napping for the duration of the 2.5 hour(!) drive, but said that if that was what "camping" was, she thinks she'll pass. You'd think that after really dropping the ball that Dad & Cadence would be shopping around for a mom upgrade, but no. Bless thier forgiving hearts. Dad made us veggie burgers when we got home and we sat and had cold beers in front of the fan. So that was Cadence's first camping trip.....
